Can you respond with the glass cleaner you use and why you like it?

I really like the flipper scraper. It has a pad one one side for scrubbing algae and a metal scraper on the other side for hard to remove algaes, but it's still gentle enough that it doesnt scratch glass or acrylic. And you can flip it from one side to the other without ever putting your hand in the tank :)

Is it strong? I have a magnetic cleaner already but I have to go back and forth over the same spot to get the green film off.

Yup,very seldom do I need to make a second pass over a spot, and like I said, if you have a tough spot just flip it and the scraper gets the job done ;)

Does that have a scrubbing pad or just blades?

Just blades. The larger blade is good for most everything. The smaller blade has much less flexibility and is great for coralline or a tougher stain.

Algae Free Hammerhead for me. I quit using metal blades on my glass. Strong magnet, wet side floats and you can replace the scrubber and felt pad, which I do every few months (to keep fresh pads on it, not because they wear). I use it for a few seconds a day and I don't have anything on the glass that needs scraping off.

Edit: I believe Algae Free does have models with metal blades also, if that is what you are looking for.

The flipper doesn’t work well on my half round. Not sure if the curve is too much but it doesn’t scrape every area.

Ok, I will have to check it out!

still using a good old magfloat, scrappers are not something you buy often so no need to change something thats not broken. worst case I have to make a second pass on the glass.

I have used several brands and the strongest would be the Algae Free brand. I have a hammerhead model which has a removable blade

There is nothing left on the glass with a couple of strokes with this. This model works fine, even with my 3/4” glass. I also picked up a Tiger Shark model which is designed for my glass thickness but the magnet is too strong! I get a good arm work out so I stuck to the Hammerhead.

Let me know if you are interested in one. I picked up a few used ones on a deal, with blade and without.

Myself as well! Takes a bit of practice to get the flip though.

Can you leave the flipper in the water? I've been looking at getting one but the metal worries me.
I take mine out, but I'm sure you can

I've had mine in the tank for 4 months. No issues so far...
