Best mesh size for PaulB mandarin feeder?

Is there a specific size I can go out to buy that will work best to build PaulB's mandarin feeding station? I was planning on supplementing either artemia franciscana or artemia salina nauplii this way when/if I eventually get a mandarin. I read he used women's pantyhose, but I'd rather go with a known mesh size in class whatever I find in stock by me is differently sized.
 
Not necessarily buy....but after a post by him talking about the mesh that goes around RO filters, I tried that out, and it works quite well! So if you still have a used RO membrane, unwrapping it will yield some very nice large and small mesh, the latter of which I’ve used successfully in a brine shrimp feeder

the actual RO membrane? or the sediment pre-filter? i'm kinda shocked it'd be as fine as an RO membrane. how do the brine shrimp get through?
 
So the RO membrane has multiple parts. There’s the sticky blue outer part, which is attached to a small mesh, which is attached to a white tape thing, which is attached to a large mesh, which is attached to something else, I think it’s a tube. If you use the small mesh, that works quite well for BBS.

It’s definitely not any of the other filters in an RODI unit, sediment, carbon, or DI.

Ah, I use the aquatic life twist-in unit, so I've never seen the inside of one before. it'd be mildly annoying to open them up

As someone who has had to wear pantyhose for previous jobs, they are all the same type of mesh. Just don’t use the “top” of the hose because that part is much thicker as it’s meant to suck in the belly and shape the rear end...stick with the legs and you will be fine.
 
I used panty hose, works great. Like was said above, don't use the top part of them. All I did was use a shallow plastic food container from Walmart, cut the center out of the lid, put a few pebbles into the bottom of the container. And the nylon and ridged tubing.

Oh, and make sure you wash the thing outside when you clean it/dose food appropriately. I had to not bring my college tank back home with me due to a certain virus, but when I had a mandarin in it, the brine shrimp feeder would smell like death when I refilled it.
 
Mine never has a smell ans being that mandarins have such small noses, I doubt they smell it either. :rolleyes:
 
I am going to put this in a few places. I found that my urchins eat through the stocking so I have been using this mesh which is the perfect size.
It is right inside the plastic on a RO membrane.
No, I don't cut up a new membrane but I use an old one. There is enough of this tiny mesh in there for many "PaulB" type feeders.
