Redfish, you say "guessing a leg from pantyhose". Have you actually done this and it has worked? Did you use cooked or raw shrimp or something else?Using a stocking (I'm ageing myself.....) I'm guessing a leg from pantyhose, where the leg portion is propped open. Put some nice meaty food in the top portion. The bristle worm slinks in and it's bristles get caught up in the stocking/pantyhose.

Did you use the smaller mouth of the plastic? water bottle or wrap it around a cut out regular part to create a large opening? And then sink it partially in the substrate?Yes....more detail....you only need say 8-10 inches of pantyhose and I used a portion of a water bottle to hold the pantyhose open. And a part of a clam was my bait. Leave it in over night and if you have bristle worms, you'll trap them.

That's what helped with mine as well. I still have them but they only come out after the wrasse goes to sleep. It helps that I absolutely love the coloration of the melanurus wrasse. It's probably my favorite fish.Melanurus Wrasse. This guy took care of all my bristle worms!

I’m bare bottom only a piece of sand for wrasse.Try feeding less and vacuuming your gravel. Gets a lot of them. Then there’s arrow crabs, coral banded shrimp, certain wrasses , there’s a little purple fish that goes at them. I don’t remember what name. A purple dottyback?
It's a good job this is a bristle worm problem and not a fireworm problem. Fireworms murdered my beloved arrow crab, Mr. Bobinski. </3A sure bet- Arrow Crab - eats them like candy

Well this bristle worm tried to kill my leopard wrasse . Nearly did actually. It survived and immediately switched from female to male wrasse it was cool. It's a good job this is a bristle worm problem and not a fireworm problem. Fireworms murdered my beloved arrow crab, Mr. Bobinski. </3

The trap that worked for us was a piece of shrimp in the bottom of a glass Coke bottle, propped up at an angle in the tank. The longest, most monstrous worms would come out at night and go all the way to the bottom for the shrimp. I then took my heavily-gloved hand, blocked the opening, and flushed them. I also might have screamed when a giant strong one would pull back and try to get away. ;Playful
Do you have any photos of it/them?Well this bristle worm tried to kill my leopard wrasse . Nearly did actually. It survived and immediately switched from female to male wrasse it was cool.
I wonder if it’s a fire worm
