What are the best online sites for someone who is starting out?

The best price for quality equipment/ supplies.

Any recommendations for supplies?

Thanks for the responses! I was leaning towards them, just wanted to make sure

I would check out all the sponsors here and get used to checking at least 5 for every purchase. I have found that Dr F&S was very competitive and they are the ones that I have been spending my money on, especially get on their mailer list, lots of flash 25% offers. So the others are Marine Depot ,Saltwater Aquarium, Premium Aquatics and Aquarium Specialty, plus much more.

As has been stated: check the sponsors and hopefully you'll find one or two that are well stocked, has decent prices and as a bonus, are located within 1-2 shipping days from your location.

I exclusively buy from bulk reef supply unless I am making a really big purchase and can save a couple hundred dollars elsewhere. Otherwise I don’t mind spending a couple extra bucks to buy from BRS opposed to eBay or Amazon

Ebay like its 1999 lol - jk - google works pretty good for me!! :)

I've been a customer of Premium Aquatics and Drs Foster and Smith since the mid 90's. Both have great customer service and as stated before, you can get some good deals from DFS with their 25% coupons. If I'm just needing 1 item I will check Amazon since I have Prime and it usually is cheaper after shipping.

saltwateraquarium.com Their prices are in line with other retailers (sometimes cheaper) and they are very quick to ship.

BRS - get on their group buys. You get special offers & 10% back. They do a R2R one every month. As mentioned, check out their videos. It'll probably end up saving you money.

Marine Depot (they got good videos too) & saltwateraquarium.com are awesome. DFS has great sales too as mentioned.

Lastly, depending on where you're located, get to know your local reefers. Join the local reef club if there's one. You can find some GREAT deals locally.
