Best phosphate remover in media bag

What is the best phosphate remover or GFO that can be used in a media bag and placed in an HOB filter?

Seachem phoszorb ok but ok is not good enough for me

Phosguard has served me well, and Chemipure Blue has been good for keeping them in check, combined with Purigen.

You could just go with straight GFO.

I just added phosgaurd but I've read that it only works for 4 days....I'm looking for something that can last longer then that. Can I place BRS GFO in a media bag? The dust won't get all over?

I run Phosguard in a media bag that I place in my sump. However, you can place it in a HOB no problem as long as it gets good flow through. In other words don't put it on the bottom and smash it down with a bunch of other media or filters. I have never heard that it only last for 4 days, mine usually takes about 4 days to reduce the Phosphates to acceptable numbers. If you use Phosguard, make sure you rinse it after you place it in the media bag before placing it in your HOB. When it is first placed in water it will generate heat and have a quick "popping" reaction. Make sure you also follow the directions when it comes to how much to use for your gallonage. If you use too much it will strip the Phosphate extremely quickly and cause other issues.

Chemi-Pure Blue, like Adamantium said, will keep Phosphates in check over a longer period of time. However, you should attempt to figure out why your numbers are high. It may just be due to over feeding, and that can be fixed easily. Not sure what your total gallonage is but the more water the easier it is to keep your parameters in check. Nano tanks are much harder to keep water parameters in check than say a 125. Good luck to you!

Thanks. I don't have a sump or skimmer so I need to get something that will go in my HOB. My glass gets dirty very quickly so I assume its phosphate

I have read in several places on this forum that Phosguard only lasts about 4 days so how long do you keep yours in sump as changing it out every 5ish days or so is becoming expensive and impractical?

Not sure how well phosguard is working for me have had in a media bag under my overflow in the sump for 3/4 days and my phosphate is still 2 have moved it to hang in the tank in front of a wave maker hoping it does some damage.
