Best place to buy zoas

I'm looking for some nice bright colorful zoas. I'm not a connoisseur by any means, however I do like pretty zoas, I'm just not looking to spend 50.00 for a frag. Especially when there is one or two polyps. I they're worth that to some people, just not me. I'm usually okay up to about 35.00 a frag for a nice frag with several polyps unless the one or two polyps are monsters. I'd love to find some 10-15.00 bright colors if possible, but I won't hold my breath. Anyhow, any suggestions as to where to shop online would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from the above mentioned vendors, you can also try eBay. A lot of the folks mentioned above, along with other big names, host auctions on eBay. While you may have a hard time getting all the frags you want within your price range you may still score some colorful zoas.

Also, there are a couple shops that run Facebook groups that have auctions pretty regularly. Frags2Fishes is one I know of who has nice full frags at reasonable prices that don’t get bid up to super high dollar amounts.

I've looked (and bought) on eBay and seen some nice stuff (BIN) it's just really hard to tell who's photoshopping their colors and who isn't. Another great way to get great corals/zoas is at the big conventions like Reefapalooza, MACNA, or other local Frag Swaps in your area.

Frag swaps are the best, but there are areas in the country where they don't exist. Where I live there are two massive frag swaps that occur twice a year with every possible paly/zoa you can imagine available, and prices are excellent from basement coral growers. Where I get 99% of my stuff.

Ebay sellers are annoying. They are typically impossible to get ahold of or have timed auctions. Is it really so difficult to throw together a basic web store with grocery cart?

If you buy from an online seller insist on seeing what you are getting and realize a lot of those guys are taking pictures with blue only LEDs that artificlally crank up colors.

Also, if you buy online only buy zoa/paly frags that have two or more heads. This means it's healthy and growing and actually attached to the plug. A lot of online stores and sellers will get a big rock of zoas from a wholesaler then cut it all up and glue all the zoas and sell them within a few days. You then get a bag of salt water delivered with a empty frag plug and a zoa ball rolling around because it did't have time to attach. If the zoa/paly has two heads you eliminate a lot of these problems.

IMO, start with larger palys like sunny-Ds or gobstoppers.

Yes. I love this site. Beautiful zoas. I think I got frustrated cause everything I wanted was sold out. LOL I'll go back tho. LOVE the id part. Been looking for those all/red-pink zoas for years after seeing them being sold overseas but never had enough money for a box (you had to order like 1500K minimum) Now those outlets are closed and you can't get anything from that place. Lost a lot of great Zoa resources, some with the wildest tall zoas I've ever seen. Like daisies with blue centers.

I had once successful order with aquarium depot. Then after that they didn't send me all of my order, then didn't send one at all (we're talking several hundred dollars here for each individual order). I had to dispute it through PayPal. Their excuse for not sending me all of my first order (which was supposed to have like 12 blueberry gorgonians that were frags at about 2-2.5 inches tall) is that they claimed that each branch on the gorgonian frag, counted as a single gorgonian. Now, I don't have to tell you what a load of horse**** that was. Think about that, a 2.5 inch frag and each branch an additional gorge. Um, no. Not only was that NOT how they were advertised, that's just dumb. lobo (I think that's right)There was more, lots more, dead live stock on arrival and not honoring their guarantee. They even chose to ignore PayPals inquiry. Even the rep at PayPal was shocked. After I filed my dispute I called the Florida agricultural office. They'd had many, many complaints from people with similar experiences. Aquarium Depot also changed their name and guess what, the previous "company" developed a very bad rep for similar stunts.

So you know what? I'll gladly pay a little extra to deal with honest people rather than individuals who have a less than stellar track record.
And I also acquired many frags for under 20.00 from one of the sellers listed.
