Adding some chaeto tomorrow and wasn't sure where I should put it. Need to keep ph up a bit at night because it's dipping to 7.9 all night and is 8.2 durning the day. Was thinking about running one less filter sock, by the skimmer or? DIY reactor is not out of the question but it looks like I'd need a waterproof light. Thanks

I would place in between your intake and outtake of your sump. Somewhere it can get good flow and light.

Thanks, thinking of just making a temporary eggcrate partition before skimmer for now.

You could also partition off an area in the skimmer chamber.

Looking at your pictures will you be able to get good light into the intake chamber of your sump with the sock holders?

That's what I ended up doing for now. Started running carbon 2 days ago and I'm seeing a lower ph. Hopefully it will help.

Is there decent flow around the chaeto? If not you may want to rotate your skimmer to discharge next to your chaeto to get it to get some flow around it. Another option is a small power head.

Thanks, it's fairly strong. The chaeto is being pushed into the eggcrate in the picture. The flow also knocks over the eggcrate so I had to put a piece of plexi on to weight it down. After looking at my numbers on apex it did help my ph a little the first night!! (.04 lol)

The potential issue I see here is that the light could cause some undesirable algae growth in the skimmer itself if you don't block the light from hitting it directly
