I got a Red Planet today and the green base is amazing!!! What do you guys think is the best placement to hold the green base? I'm running 4 Ecoxotic 100 Cannons.

I have mine in the top 1/3 of my tank. It started out with no green base and has quickly encrusted and grown into the classic red planet.

i have mine placed about halfway down in my tank (30 inches tall) 2x 250 w MH 14k phoenix and in medium current running 2 6100 tunze...color and growth look excellent

I would start it at the bottom of the tank and move it up slowly till you find a spot that it will keep the green. as was stated in the previous response the farther away from the light the better it will keep the green.

This one is 8" away from an ATI PM. If it's in high light, eventually, it's going to develop a green base in the shaded areas.

Def. no argument there..the colony growing on my overflow is starting to get green in the shaded areas as well. My suggestion was that they could place it where the green will stay prominent through out the coral. That's a beautiful pic by the way!!!!

Mid-tank, if want green.

High-up, if you want all red.

Mine is a colony. It's in a 200 Deep Dimension, under 10X54 T5HO lighting. I've been slowly moving it down, lower and lower in the tank, to regain the green that was lost, when I placed it too high in the tank. At this point, it's just below the halfway point, and barely starting to show the green. I'll probably move it even lower, in the near future. I may end up having to put it near the bottom...lol Red Planet will definitely lose the green coloration, if it receives too much light. However, the green will come back, once the amount of light is diminished, to a low enough level.

Mine kept it's green up high under a 250W 20K MH
