Best placement for live rock

Hey guys,

I've been reading a lot about the placement of the live rock some people say its bet to keep it off the wall of the tank for best water flow. I wanted to know how true this is should live rock be placed towards the center of the tank? or is it a matter of preference?

I say preference
I dont clean my back wall so they are close to that.
You just want to make sure that no matter how you build it allow water flow through the rockwork.
