I have a JBJ 45 rimless tank and I am currently running 1 x MP10 towards the front middle of my tank. I have been toying with the notion to buy a second powerhead, but this time I am on a budget. It would be for behind my rocks. The MP10 is in front of the rock. What should I be looking at that is a good value for the money, but inexpensive?

I have an ow8 and a 25 from jebao and had to turn them down in my 93 cube because they were causing major sand storms. I honestly think I finally have a tank with no dead spots. :)

Before I upgraded I used the Current Loop system and 2 of the small power heads. Did dang great and still running and use your phone with it. could sell you one of their small ones cheap if you want

I will never buy a jebao again lol. No customer service and they dont last IMO!

Im happy with my Nero 5

Rossmont & Sicce make AC powerheads. They don't have all the same bells and whistles but they are much cheaper and will probably last a decade...

This has been my experience as well. I have a huge box filled with defunct pumps in my garage and 5-6 of them are Jebao.

I recently picked up an Aqua Gadget Wavelink and it’s working great so far. Only $110 for the 2300 gph version.

How is it all of you have had such terrible luck with multiple jebao pumps and I have NEVER had one fail?

I have a dct12000 on my pond (3 years now) and they are not supposed to be used outdoors. I have the controller in a zip lock back under a rock! LOL!

Now, that being said, I clean the wavemakers once a month and the pumps every other month. But, I did this with other brands as well.

To be fair, the only pump I have ever had fail outright was years ago and it was a no name ebay thing that was so loud, I was glad it failed. :)

I had 3 jebao OW-10 pumps cook on me in under a year. I got to a point where trusting their products are a concern for me

Jebaos don't really have to last at their price point. They also don't really need any customer service. If it breaks it breaks, buy a new one. That being said I've had an RW last well past what I expected. It's on it's 4th year. The serious before WP? was pretty good I got a couple of years out of them. To get more life out of your pumps be it cheap or expensive, regular cleaning will really help. Or just buy tunze ac pumps that are not controllable and you'll likely get 10 years out of them.

You looking for static or variable? For static, look at the new Tunze flow pumps - the static ones are not expensive and they are Tunze quality. For variable, then you are looking at $100+... so the ones mentioned are good, or AquaMedic Ecodrift are fine. None of these will probably last a decade, but they are also more budget.

I don't know about Jeabo reliability, but I will not use them because they steal US and EU patents and do harm to real companies in the USA and Europe who do the R&D and put their necks on the line.

Agreed on Tunze for sure. I bet, if I could find it, my old one from the late 90s would still work. Albeit pretty noisy the last time I fired it up.

i feel the same way. I am waiting for some of the replies be like I ran it for 8months and never cleaned it and it died and I am sooo mad. most of the time its people not cleaning anything and expecting it to last forever.

To be fair, good pumps don't need cleaned that much. I only clean my Tunze pumps when the coralline covers the grates and they no longer flow - this is years. I never clean a AC return pump. While there is certainly no problem with cleaning a pump, this is like asking people who bought a certain car to change oil every 500 miles when every other car can go 3000-5000 miles or even 15k nowadays. I am totally with anybody who doesn't want to hear people complain about failures with a jeabo stuff when they knew when they bought them that they needed more work - this all has to be figured into the total cost of ownership.
