Best protein skimmer

Awesome now how quickly will my soft corals grow I have them arriving in a couple days will post pics

I second this. I have a 320 on my 200gal. Works great.
I am going to end up buying a bigger tank all the amazing tanks I have seen but like I have said this is my first saltwater tank and have loved every investment and don’t mind one bit working extra to keep upgrading would you recommend I go big and add a 300 gallon tank I am looking now at them

Have any of you all sold coral off to lfs or is there a market to sell them

ALSO do you all like the Red Sea reefer 160s light for growing corals as well

Tank is super new 2.5 months old very new
ok cool, you can keep and grow corals for sure, just remember that your tank never stops cycling and will need to keep things in check if you want to introduce corals early on. I spent my money on all the testing kits and equipment i need to measure and track my water chemistry, before i bought any coral. We are trying to take care of the water, the success of the growth of the coral all depends on the water conditions, and bio diversity. live rock in a refugium or DT always helps.

If you enjoy the hobby, you might as well. I started similar to you. Kept freshwater tanks for the last 20+ years, then decided to go salt. I got a free tank from a friend a year ago (37gal). I upgraded his equipment and got the tank to grow corals pretty well and decided I was going to want a bigger tank and some tangs, so I bought and set up a Red sea 750xxl in Sept. Chances are if you love fish your going to want a bigger tank. :) Nothing wrong with sticking to the 90gal for now though either. You can always upgrade and reuse alot of what you have.

How often would you recommend water changing right now I do every two weeks which seems to do fine only changing out 20 gallons though

I’ve had fish tanks since I was a kid but this being my first saltwater aquarium it’s been such a exspense but so exciting I really have been thinking about upgrading to get a bigger tank for tangs and using the 93 for growing coral mainly

water change really depends on your actual water volume, and bioload. I have about 135G in volume, and I would change out 10 gallons, 5 gallons on friday, then another 5 on saturday, every other week, but this all depends on my nutrient import/export, ive been lowering my feeding volume now, so my water has been much cleaner. test for elements and adjust accordingly..

Its your decision. It does get expensive. I bought my 750 used off a guy in Indianapolis. Helped cut the cost a bit. I would personally stick with the 90 for now. You can still keep bristle tooth tangs. If you are going to upgrade you can get some of the others as well as long as they are small. Check out my build thread if you get bored. I went through a few ups and downs already lol.

I appreciate all the feed back I feel like I can make all of this work way better now

Hello. I’m looking for a protein skimmer for my Mini Peninsula 25 gallon tank. The Tunze 9004 DC with air control is the one I’m looking towards. What do y’all think? I’ve always been a fan of the more traditional shaped protein skimmer then the rectangular shaped Tunze. Here is my tank if y’all want to take a look. I would appreciate greatly any information or tank rating. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/n...penn-25-loves-to-see-what-y’all-think.806223/
