It will very from coral to coral and tank to tank but for soft corals the best answer I can give is probably too quick.Awesome now how quickly will my soft corals grow I have them arriving in a couple days will post pics
I am going to end up buying a bigger tank all the amazing tanks I have seen but like I have said this is my first saltwater tank and have loved every investment and don’t mind one bit working extra to keep upgrading would you recommend I go big and add a 300 gallon tank I am looking now at themI second this. I have a 320 on my 200gal. Works great.
how old is the tank?Awesome now how quickly will my soft corals grow I have them arriving in a couple days will post pics
Tank is super new 2.5 months old very newhow old is the tank?
ok cool, you can keep and grow corals for sure, just remember that your tank never stops cycling and will need to keep things in check if you want to introduce corals early on. I spent my money on all the testing kits and equipment i need to measure and track my water chemistry, before i bought any coral. We are trying to take care of the water, the success of the growth of the coral all depends on the water conditions, and bio diversity. live rock in a refugium or DT always helps.Tank is super new 2.5 months old very new
If you enjoy the hobby, you might as well. I started similar to you. Kept freshwater tanks for the last 20+ years, then decided to go salt. I got a free tank from a friend a year ago (37gal). I upgraded his equipment and got the tank to grow corals pretty well and decided I was going to want a bigger tank and some tangs, so I bought and set up a Red sea 750xxl in Sept. Chances are if you love fish your going to want a bigger tank.I am going to end up buying a bigger tank all the amazing tanks I have seen but like I have said this is my first saltwater tank and have loved every investment and don’t mind one bit working extra to keep upgrading would you recommend I go big and add a 300 gallon tank I am looking now at them
Nothing wrong with sticking to the 90gal for now though either. You can always upgrade and reuse alot of what you have.mostly just trade for frags they dont have.Have any of you all sold coral off to lfs or is there a market to sell them
How often would you recommend water changing right now I do every two weeks which seems to do fine only changing out 20 gallons thoughok cool, you can keep and grow corals for sure, just remember that your tank never stops cycling and will need to keep things in check if you want to introduce corals early on. I’ve had fish tanks since I was a kid but this being my first saltwater aquarium it’s been such a exspense but so exciting I really have been thinking about upgrading to get a bigger tank for tangs and using the 93 for growing coral mainlyIf you enjoy the hobby, you might as well. water change really depends on your actual water volume, and bioload. I have about 135G in volume, and I would change out 10 gallons, 5 gallons on friday, then another 5 on saturday, every other week, but this all depends on my nutrient import/export, ive been lowering my feeding volume now, so my water has been much cleaner. test for elements and adjust accordingly..How often would you recommend water changing right now I do every two weeks which seems to do fine only changing out 20 gallons though
Its your decision. It does get expensive. I bought my 750 used off a guy in Indianapolis. Helped cut the cost a bit. I would personally stick with the 90 for now. You can still keep bristle tooth tangs. If you are going to upgrade you can get some of the others as well as long as they are small. Check out my build thread if you get bored. I went through a few ups and downs already lol.I’ve had fish tanks since I was a kid but this being my first saltwater aquarium it’s been such a exspense but so exciting I really have been thinking about upgrading to get a bigger tank for tangs and using the 93 for growing coral mainly
