I have my RO/DI filter and 55 gallon bin in my small laundry room in the basement (bi-level home). My tanks are on the upper level floor. When it comes time for a water change I haul 5 gallon buckets up to the upper floor and fill a 35 gallon bin. Then I mix my fresh saltwater, add a pump for circulation and heater. The bin has wheels so I can move it from tank to tank. I currently have 3 tanks, but setting up a Red Sea 425 now which will compound the work. Kind of a pain.

What I'd like to do is, mix the water in the basement, and then pump the water up to the tanks. Ideally I'd like to have a ball valve close to the tanks. The pump would either have a pressure switch to shut off when no demand or a pump that would tolerate no flow while turned on for a bit of time.

This would be pumping in the neighborhood of 75' distance with only a 10' rise vertically.

Any suggestions on what type of pump?

For ease, and cost, consider a different approach. Use a remote control outlet switch to turn it on and off from distance instead of finding a pump that meets those requirements. A Jebao dcp 15000 will get you that flow requirement- I have a 18000 doing 17 foot head and 25 feet linear distance as my main basement to first floor return , abd it does 850gph

I use a remote control for mine as well. Got it at Menards for like $10. I use a Mag18 to move the water. I have just one tank upstairs so I took the extra step of running PVC from the mixing barrel up to the back of the tank. I use a PVC faucet valve there to have a positive shut off. Push the remote button to turn the pump on, open the faucet, top off tank, close faucet, turn off remote. A 50g water change can be done in 15 minutes

Good suggestion! I've never used a remote control switch before but they seem reasonable.

I wish I could run some plumbing from the basement. Most of the basement is finished with the exception of the small laundry room which isn't under any tank. But running a hose with a remote control switch would be a big improvement over carrying the bin and buckets up the stairs. For me, that's the hard part of the water change.

I run a Panworld 100PX. I have it on a TuyaSmart app controlled remote. It is plumbed in to my RODI system to mix water and then with the flip of a valve I can pump water upstairs using a hose. I injured my back years ago so I needed the easy option.

I am trying to do something similar. Did you find a pump to get your water to where you need it? I bought 2 44gal Brute wash cans. One will be where I am making my RODI water in my laundry room. Then I placed the other 44gal brute trash can in a closet that is next to my tank and I want to run the water up there. I was looking at sump pumps since they are cheaper than your traditional aquarium pump. Haven't decided on which one to use yet but was wondering if you have maybe found something to set this up?

The problem with standard sump pumps is that most are not reef safe. Most contain steel or worse, brass

Do you think that even if I just use it to move my RODI water once a week to my saltwater container that is on my second floor that I will get a lot of that bleeding out into the water? Maybe even taking it out from the brute trash can I have it in after use.?

FWIW I ended up getting the Panworld 100PX and remote control outlet. I have a ball valve at the salt water bin and use 3/4" flexible hose to pump the mixed saltwater up to the tanks. With RO water you might be able to use garden hose that may be cheaper.

This has worked great!

Yeah I was thinking about doing this but I dont want to run pipe through my floor and/or out in the open from my laundry room to my living room. I also wanted something submersible in the RODI brute trash can that has a garden hose connection so that I can put it away after I am done transferring my RODI from one brute 44gal to the other 44gal brute.

I have a finished basement and can't run any pipe up through the floor. When I pump up my saltwater I use flexible hose and then wind it back up and hang it in our laundry room. It's only connected to the mixing tank when I pump water. The mixing tank is a 45 gallon brute trash can. I have the wheels on the bottom so I can roll it out of the basement closet and put it away after use.

The RODI tank I use is a 55 gallon trash can with lid. I have a float valve on that so it's always full.
