Best return pump for 120?

Jebao DCP 10000. Its oversized for that tank to run at 100%, but if you were to run a full siphon overflow like a Herbie or Bean Animal, you would be able to throttle it down or use it also in a manifold to run other items.

Ok, that's what I have on my mixing station. I'm going to use it on my new Red Sea Reefer 750xxl build for now until more funds become available then I may pick up the eheim.

Varios 6 pump has been very reliable for me. It's Apex ready too if you plan to get an Apex in the future. Jebao, while cheap, is simply garbage with absolutely zero customer service. I've had two of their products fail prematurely and never once did I hear back from Jebao.

What if you could choose one pump and your only option was jabeo. What would you choose?

  • That is just it. I don't have to chose 1. I most certainly would not chose them if I had to depend on one pump. Actually I wouldn't chose DC at all as the SICCE pumps seem to last indefinately. Oddly enough I switched to Jebao because ...1) quieter 2) feed mode 3)I could have bought 3 for the cost of 1 SICCE and 6 compared to a VORTECH at the time.

Hey I just ran into this post. Perfect timing. What does everyone think of the Vectra pumps by EcoTech ?

Eco Tech Vectra M1 would be perfect. Yes, they are pricey but the control-ability and almost dead silent performance make it a great pump. Been using 1 in my 93g cube for over a year and it is fantastic.

I’m preparing to build a RSR 525xl. I will be using 2 jabao pumps. One for the return, the second for a manifold. They will both be the same size and purchased through reef builders so that I get a warranty and support an R2R sponsor. Should the main return fail or I shut it down for maintenance, I have a back up until I get another one. I’m also going that route for cost reasons and battery back up as I live near hurricane central. Everybody copies everything, everywhere. I agree about the gyre knockoff and am going with the maxspect xf250. But I am doing that because it is superior to the knockoff IMO.

The size of pump won’t do much it your plumbing the worng size pipes. I can run m1 or L1. On my 120+40+20. All in one pump L1 run at 60 %. M1 80%. If u can do the right size for it bull max Also runing all the gfo Carbon. Chiller in one return pump. Is easy all to use is 1 1/2 pipes. For max proformace of pump. Only reduce it when going connect to the return pipe 3-4 inch form bottom of tank.
