Best return pump for a 40g breeder build

I'm planning a 40g breeder with a 20g long sump. I'm probably going with the glass holes 700 overflow/return package. I've heard Jebao is a great brand. What would be a good gph model for this setup. Is there a downside to having more gph than necessary? Is 500 a good number considering the setup will have about 50g's overall? I'm a newbie when it comes to plumbing so any advice is welcome!

I have the exact same same up running on a tank for my daughter and I went with a DC-6000. Works perfect on speed setting two.

Without question I'd go with a DC (direct current) pump.

Personally, that would be a Jebao....and definitely a DCT model....a newer model then their older DC pumps.....either the DCT 4000 or DCT 6000. The great thing about these pumps is that they are adjustable.

Best part is you can utilize a battery back up for it in the event of a power outage. Its very quite as well.

The first is much less expensive but their description is pretty much the same. The second one has some sort of display on it. Does anyone know the difference or if the more expensive one is worth it?

Both of them come with that "display." That is the controller that controls the pump. And I'm stumped why both coming from Amazon...and both Prime....have totally different prices. As far as I can tell....same pump!

I would buy the $81 dollar one. If you're an idiot, and like a Rolls Royce, buy the same pump HERE for $282 plus $10 shipping!!!! This one probably comes with wood grain.

I paid 81 shipped from amazon for the 6000 model. I think if you click on the link you have for the cheaper one. Then on that page it gives you options for the model. Use that to bring you to the 6000 model and it should be $81 or so
