im currently in the process of building a 75 reef. looking to stay under 200 for the return pump. on the high end im liking the maxspect jump return pumps. has anyone used them yet? on the cheaper end Ive seen decent reviews for the jebao dc return pumps. anyone have any recommendations for a good dc return pump under 200?

Tunze 1073.050 DC.
I run a 1073.040 non DC on my 120. Quality pump.
I would have no problem running a jebao as I have good success with the powerheads and skimmer pumps running over 3 years.
Just get a backup no matter what pump you decide on.

I have been using a eFlux LOOP DC Flow Return Pump 1900 GPH from Current USA since they came out 2 or so years ago and so far zero issues. very quiet and compact - ~180 bucks

I've been running the DCP4000 for a year now, pulled it out to clean it once. No issues at all with it and its silent!

I had two quite ones return pump. The name is misleading. They are loud. I was also getting vibration that I was hearing from the basement to my second floor bedroom. I could never get rid of the noise.
After one broke with a little over a year I got two jebao I could not be happier with back in early 2008.

Maybe Jebao are better now, but when I looked at them a few year ago I concluded that they were garbage. This is the pump i would buy (and did buy) for a fairly-priced workhorse.

I just picked up a Simplicity Aquatics 1000DC pump for $89.99 at my LFS and I've been very happy with it so far. It was cheap enough that I plan on picking another up as a backup as soon as everything reopens. and even with both, still under $200 for 1000 gph DC return pump. And it is insanely quiet for the price.

I'm using 4 jebao pumps now. x2 DCP-8000 as returns (30% each), 1 DCP-6500 (60%) as the surge pump & 1 DCP-2500 (50%) for the algae scrubber. The 2500 has been running for 2 years, 8000's for 1 year & the 6500 for 3 months. No issues.

Below is a short video for you to check out regarding return pumps. BRStv did a "best of" series and below is the one they did for return pumps. Obviously these are opinions but also note they can provide best as what also "sold" more. Another view never the less.

I use Neptune Cor's for my returns and skimmers. I've used them since launch and have had great success with them. The main reason why is because I already have the Apex ecosystem and it made sense. I started with a Jeboa DCT 15000 for return pump when I started my 210 upgrade. It. moved a lot of water. However, it didn't make it past the leak check. Handle looking thing broke off when picking it up. Then the output neck started to separate just below the threads. Upon inspection I saw that the pump body is just too thing. I mean hostess cupcake holder thing.

Tossed it and when with the Cor's. In any case maybe the video will help plus what others suggest. Best of luck.
