Best RODI system for small aquariums

Hi All,

I’m sick and tired of going to the LFS just for RODI water and finally want to take the plunge a system of my own. However, I only have a Waterbox Peninsula 25gallon tank.

I saw Waterbox makes their own RODI system (https://waterboxaquariums.com/collections/saltwater/products/rodi).

Should I go ahead and buy the Waterbox or are there any other small output systems anyone would recommend?

Your RO system is totally dependent on your source water, not the size of your tank.

If your local water treatment plant uses chloramines, you need a 5 stage (with 2 carbon blocks) at a minimum. If you have super clean water and no chloramines, a 4 stage will do.

I use and like BRS units since they use standard fittings and have great service if you ever need it.

I live in FL where the water is super hard so I would assume that would mean I’d need a good one. Will check out BRS. Thanks!

this waterbox rodi also looks to be using standard sized ro components so it should be fine. Always check source water as rtparty said. I got 10 gallons of rodi water 1 time and then immediately bought an rodi filter as i realized i would never want to do it again.

its about checking the tap water quality in your specific town, usually you can just search up your town or county and water quality and it should come up

Should get the job done, though if your water is really bad might need another RO stage

Whichever you get, please make a DI bypass for when you flush the unit / turn it on every time for the first 60 seconds or so.

I added another di cartridge and the second one never depletes. Good value if you don't need more than it makes.

yeah can just buy another one on amazon for an extra 20$ and easily plumb it inline with all the extra tubing and fittings the RO buddy kit includes.

I got this one from Amazon. It's nice because it used standard components and has a built in bypass.
