Hi everyone, I am contemplating on maybing switching salts. I have a 60 cube with about 15 gallon sump, so 75 total volume. I currently use IO ReefCrystals. I have some SPS and some softies.

I heard that IO is kind of like a lower end salt?? But Georgia AQ uses it...lol. Are their better brands out there? Is it ok to change salts? I usually do 20% water changes bi-weekly.

Thoughts? Opinions?

It’s ok to change, but why are you wanting to change?

Most folks have targets for things like alk, cal etc and choose salts that mix up close to their targets

WWC uses IO, so don’t believe it when someone says it’s low end. ;)

I just tested my Water:

My Salt s 34.2
Alk is 8.96 DKH (Red Sea test kit)
Calcium: 405 Salifert

Those readings ok?

The mix up is always going to be ok. Target 1.025 - 1.026 if your keeping corals (add more salt or water depending on if your high or low)

Consistent parameters is what matters most.

With your regular water changes, you should be good to go!
