Best sand cleaning invert

This video at 10:50 sand bed microfauna:

I like this microfauna, like to siphon my sand very little, and don't like to add many sand sifters that will eat the microfauna. Maybe just one Tongan Nassarius snail in my RSR 250.

I have a fighting conch, mine is out everyday cruising around. Stays on the sand bed and seems to do a good job. Your sand sifting starfish might stir your sand bed and keep it looking clean, but it also eats the healthy parts of your live sand, the microfauna that you need. Once that is gone it starves to death slowly. I'd pick up a fighting conch or two, depending on size of tank.

Nassariius snails :)

I'm going to second on the horseshoe crab. They just never stop sifting and much greater speed then any sea star, snail, or other invert. Mine does disappear for days at a time because it goes deep in the sand bed. However I only recommend one per tank because they do such a good job along with your other inverts you will soon have their food source depleted

Love my diamond goby for keeping the sand bed clean! Takes care of my 75 gallon. +1 regarding the sand on corals that are near the goby when he's cleaning. You do have to watch placement of the corals.

I don't think pistol shrimp move around much. They will handle wherever they have their burrow but they aren't going to turn over the sand all over the tank. They keep to their cave.

Don't they prefer cooler water? And eventually get large.

Here's the question. What size is the tank? What you need is a well rounded clean up crew. Just one thing isn't going to get it done. You need sand cleaners to cleaners that work on the rock. A good rounded crew that's not to many is key. Then once you decide on that crew you need to keep it going. So a couple times to a few times a year you might have to restock it a little. But let's start with the size of the tank and what's the live stock?

My favorite turkeyus basterus. Works great, gets all the sand before a water change. I had a fighting conch, he was cool, but only lived a year, presumably not enough food. So afterwards I got a turkey baster.

Lol, Turkeyus basterus. Priceless

Sea cucumbers are my vote. They are great, but you should read a lot on them first and buy one at your own risk.

If you plan properly, and you get a healthy specimen home, They will Work wonders

I love my bullet goby. But yes, sometimes he gets sand on top of my corals. But he does a great job. Just make sure that you have enough food on your sand bed for it or any goby you get. I always add Reef Chilly or Reef Roids That seems to keep everyone fed well.

I have a conch snail, he does wonders! But he does sleep for days at a time so sometimes half the tank sand is gorgeous and the other half is a bit messy
Me too, i have a large and a small one. They clean the top very well, but the large one is like a bull in a China shop. Lol. Anything on the Sand bed is a possible bowling pin. Hahahaha.
