I'm setting up a new tank and looking for some better sand, I previously used pool sand but I want to change to a good aquarium sand. I have a tiger goby who is supposed to sift sand... I want the whitest sand I can find. The current pool sand is prob. .8mm, my previous goby was a Diamond back, not sure if there is a difference in what size sand they can safely sift?

What is the best sand for my needs? I don't want super fine sand making a big mess in the tank.

Thanks!

Carib Sea Fiji Pink. It's not really pink, just a few bits here and there. You really have to look for them. It's not super fine.
Best price from Amazon delivered that I could find anywhere: Carib Sea ACS00052 Fiji Pink Reef Sand for Aquarium, 40-Pound
It's .5-1.5 mixed.

I have pool sand mixed with one bag of carib-alive and rock I beat with a hammer

Pool sand can be a problem in saltwater tanks. The silica released into the water and feeds diatoms. I use it in my freshwater planted tanks and it's great.

Silica sand also tends to be sharper grains... it is glass after all. I definitely recommend aragonite sand for gobies.
