There's surprisingly limited information on this... such a gear head thing, I expected to find more reviews. (Did I miss them?)

I'm likely dosing one part in the near future, since I'm doing it manually now (kalkwasser or carbocalcium, currently the later). Could wind up sticking with one part, or else, down the road two part or whatever (so flexibility is always a potential plus, though not required).

There's been some new product introduction this year in the dosing pump world, AFAICT.

My tank is 38 gallons; I do not see an APEX in my future for this particular tank. I already have a Tunzi ATO. I could dose KALK thru that but I kind of like the idea of keeping dosing independent of evaporation- especially if I can get a great dosing pump that is not a big ticket item relative to the equipment I've already got for a tank this size (synergy reef overflow, MP10, Kessil A360WE, varios 2 return, Octopus 110SSS skimmer).

I'm not interested in cheap, unless cheap is also the best VALUE. Thus I'm also not interested in the highest quality, unless that too happens to be the best value. Yes the GHL looks fabulous, but I can't justify the expense for current needs and likely future needs for this tank. This is a great office tank so one way or another, if I'm in the hobby, I expect to keep and run this 'lil tank.

End of the day: I do appreciate quality. But it can't break the bank. So I like quality and I hate cheap, but value has to be kept in mind.

Whew.

Thanks!

A BRS dosing pump on a simple timer is probably the easiest, reasonably priced, reliable way to dose,. You typically will have to dose in one min increments that way, which my be to much on a small tank. They are less expensive ways and much more expensive ways like the Komar or Versa dosing pumps.

I've been looking hard at the Kamoer X1 or X1- pro version. Seems an excellent bang for the buck and biggest complaint I see is in the initial wifi connectivity.

I would second @laverda 's suggestions. I ran a BRS 1.1ml single dosing pump for years to dose 2 part on a simple timer. Very reliable, and very accurate(needed to be calibrated like once a year when I replaced the tubing), and certainly won't break the bank.

Simple off and on, nothing to program, nothing electronic to go bad and dump all your 2 part into the tank.

If I hadn't bought an apex, and won a DOS in a local frag raffle, I would probably still be using the BRS pumps.

My two cents for what it is worth, I went with the Coral Box from reef breeders. https://www.reefbreeders.com/shop/coral-box-wifi-dosing-pump-wf-01/
It’s 70 and is controlled through your homes WiFi. It took me less than 5 minutes to connect calibrate and set my dosing schedule. I’ve been using it for 6 months and have check my calibration several time and haven’t needed to correct it. I’m currently using it to dose All-For-Reef I’m my 90 gallon.
On the flip side I have a GHL doser maxi for my auto water changes and love it.... other than the initial set up which made me want to pull my hair out. But after firmware updates it’s easy to connect to and I know it’s reliable.
I will eventually replace my Coral box with the left over head from a KH director whenever I can afford it. In the meantime I’m very happy with my coral box doser

Thanks all. Hmmm... the new Versa is tempting, especially since I only need one. The Kamoer X1 or X1- pro version also look interesting.

+3 for the 1.1mL/min BRS doser. Cheap, made in Italy and coupled with a kasa smart outlet, has all the features you would need to drip kalk.

I have the Kamoer X1 Pro wifi. I believe it is $90. The setup is very easy and the settings are saved if and when the power goes out.
