Whats the best pellet food that sinks quick, that also can be used in an automatic fish feeder for vacation? Advise recommendations

Just get one of those acrylic ring feeders and have your auto feeder drop it into that so it has time to drop and the fish can come to it and eat it

I already have an automatic feeder. I'm wondering what food is best too use in them. I have found most pellet food floats and then just goes down the overflow to the sump before the fish even realizes its been dispensed. So I'm looking for a food that sinks quickbthat is nutritional.

Depends. Go to JKS they seem to have the best nutritional stuff in my eyes

If you would like a tank sitter I could feed them frozen food, and check up on everything

Big NLS fan here too - .5 or 1mm. I use a ring and am careful not to put too much in the feeder in case there's a mishap.

I agree with this also. I had a Eheim feeder malfunction and stick on the on position,
I was very luck that it happened a few days after I got back from a 10 day trip and it only had a small amount of food left.

Are you going away for more then a couple days? If I go away for 3 days or less, I just feed them a bit extra before I go and they are fine when I get back. No chance of mishaps then.

Great Idea! This would probably work for the OP, and myself. I think most food, and even the sinking pellets, will float until soaked with water. So a auto feeder dropping sinking pellets into a ring that floats will keep the pellets from going down the drain, until they are water logged enough to sink. I'll try it. And to the original poster, I think the" New Life Spectrum" sinking pellets would work well in this situation.
