Hey guys
Lookin for a smaller footprint skimmer for a heavy load 75.
Bubble mag curve 5 elite
Reef octupus 110sss
Aquamaxx fc 120
Eshopss s120
These are all smaller than 8x8, same price range give or take a few. Would you choose one over the other

IMO I would choose the Reef Octopus because they have worked well for me and been very dependable for the past 10 years. I currently am running 3 Reef Octopus skimmers on different systems and am very pleased. That said, another small footprint skimmer that didn't make your list, but may be worth considering is of the Tunze Comline DOC skimmers. Good luck with whatever you choose!

i got a dc coralbox skimmer for a good deal used so i thought i would try it and it is a good skimmer and compact too

I have the aquamaxx fc-180 on my 80 gal DT. It has been a solid performer for sure but I probably would not buy another as I find the build quality to be quite poor.

If you don't use the sock assembly on the Tunze 9410 it should fit. Plug and play, zero adjustments to make, it just skims.

I agree with the coralbox dc300. I switched from a bubble magus curve 5 and it blows it away. Make sure you get it from reefbreeders as they have the updated version with the built in float switch.

I'm a big fan of my new Aquamaxx FC280 for my 150G. My last was a Skimz SM161 which is also an awesome skimmer, though replacement pump was impossible to find. I've had RO Classic series in the past and can't say I was impressed. Bubble Magus Curve looks to be nice, though they rate their skimmers to run in much deeper water than everyone else. Big keys for me were a twist on taper lock collection cup and adjustable air inlet. If you've had either, you'll be unimpressed with something that doesn't have it. I almost pulled the trigger on the new Red Sea skimmer, but it looks like the removal of the collection cup ends up with a huge mess because of how difficult it is to pull out of the lower body.

I have the 110sss. Been running for about 2 years. Set it up and haven't had to adjust it yet. Pulls dark skimmate like a champ. Super reliable skimmer.

I had to switch out the pump on my older version and the new pump came with the float switch

Aquamaxxx, BM and eshopps are all similar size sicce powered wine bottle skimmers. Take your pic based on features and price you like of the 3. I have the aquamaxx because it significantly undercuts the other two in price. The octopus lacks design features (no taper, wedge pipe water level, no air adjustment) for the money and I'd probably go for the 150SSS if it's going to be a heavily loaded 75g

The reef Octopus eSsence 130 is another one you should take a look at, without pulling the specs I would guess that mine fits inside of an 8x8 square. Works great, super nice and quite little skimmer
