Best source of information about saltwater fish

Hi Reefers

New tank is cycling and I am making the final touches to the fish stock list.

What is your go-to source of information about saltwater fish covering information such as but not limited to:

- Compatible tank mates (currently using the BRS compatibility chart)
- Diet
- Habitat requirements
- Special considerations

I have a number of sources; i am looking to verifying these agains ‘the fish bible’ if you like

Best thing I have found is researching who has kept the fish and their methods and success. It is great to do the research on the fish itself from good sources (books, online info), but to know how they actually do in aquaria, do searches on this forum and other forums to see what keepers think.

I began so long ago, I used a aquarium fish book by Scott Michael. Very helpful to give you good ideas on fish.

This wasn't an attempt at humor.

I was in the hobby for may years prior to joining R2R. And while I had a tank that survived, it wasn't until I joined R2R and began receiving guidance from other members here, that my tanks began to thrive.

Best thing I’ve found:
Trial and Error!
No, seriously, trial and error are the best things in this hobby. I’ve mixed fish that shouldn’t get along just fine and fish that should get along terribly.

I’ve also found that talking to local and not so local reefers (Both in person and on forums such as R2R) is good. You can kind of feed from their information and they can feed from your information.
