I have an established mixed reef (2+ years now) with a deep sandbed, some of which is impossible to clean due to my rockscape. I have a tiger conch and nassarius snails, and am thinking about adding a starfish or brittle star to help turn the sand over. However, I don’t want to get something that will eat itself out of a home. What would be the best option for my 40g?

Leave them st the LFS right next to the Flame Scallops

Completely disagree. Brittle and serpent stars do just fine in aquariums. They won't turn the sand bed over, sand sifting stars will but they'll probably starve to death pretty quick.

Years ago (10+) I had a bright red serpent star. So cool, I've never seen another for sale.
