So I am planning on setting up a zoomed lowboy frag tang and I am currently thinking about what I should do for stocking fish wise. I'm strictly looking for worker fish that serve a function to keeping the tank happy (hopefully without a lid)

I'll need an algae grazer and a pest eater plus whatever is reccomended.

Thank you for suggestions!

What is your tank size?

The lowboys are 48 by 24 so I think youd be fine with a small zebrasoma or Ctenochaetus tang. Maybe a wrasse for pest control.

Think a yellow or Kole will be happy in a lowboy? I'm assuming because its a longer tank with more swim room

Honestly no fish is the best. Barring that some mollies. The reason being if you keep it fishless it can double as coral qt. That being said I have a barred rabbitfish in my lowboy. He does eat various algae but really not enough to justify him being in there. Now I stick my new arrivals in a 10g although I probably could risk infecting him, my concern would be him being immune to something but acting as a carrier and transferring over to my other fish.

I bought him to eat a specific macro algae but ended up using vibrant as I probably would have needed 6 to eat it all. The funny thing is I hardly ever see him picking but when I turn off all the flow he goes nuts picking at the eggcrate and frags. It's mostly soft corals with not a lot of flow so it's not like he's being pushed around.
