Would love your recommendations/reviews/pictures of your sump.

I am setting up a list of sump manufacturers and so far I have the following three

Type/Model
Synergy Reef - CL44 - 44 x 18 x 18 - $815
Geos Reef - SU46RD - 46 x 15 x 15 - $799
Advanced Acrylic (hybrid) - 32 x 21 x 15 - $825

I know going with a simple tank and putting baffles in i can sort of get the same thing. But i want to get one built that looks as awesome as the rest of the set up.

The sump i am looking for - should not include a refugium section - as i plan to get a separate tank for a refugium and connect via plumbing.

Would love to see what you guys have and what your thoughts are.

Thanks.

Honestly, build one...

You should probably have Trigger on your list... some of their stuff is very nice.

I ended up putting a couple baffles in a 55g tank for my latest system. I've had a couple Eshopps sumps, was happy with them. Not real 'cool' looking, but they worked well. Nearly bought a Trigger sump for this system, but I just couldn't find one that really suited me. Now, of course, everybody is coming out with Triton style sumps :) Oh well.

yeah - i can definitely make my own using a regular tank. but just these manufactured ones are definitely more cooler and efficient.
anyone has the ones i listed?

True, i mean if you have the $ then rock on, i'd personally invest it in other areas that will actually impact your systems health. Efficient how?

Not efficient - I guess convenient.

Things like built in probe holders, proper movable baffles. Basically bells and whistles I won't be able to build

By now I am sure you can tell I basically have BS reasons to convince myself that it's a good investment. Lol

Haha, most go for it after the clean look, but are reluctant to admit that it does nothing for the system itself. To each their own; I've never considered buying one, but Trigger systems sumps seem to be pretty popular these days.

It's a hobby. If you want a fancy sump, and can afford it, go for it :) I've found that buying what you don't want to save money... doesn't. You'll end up buying what you really wanted later, and you'll never get your money back out of the 'cheap' one you bought the first time.

Probe holders: Try https://printedreefingsolutions.com/ Makes some nice stuff, I have several of his parts, some straight from the web site, some custom designed to meet a need I had. Good stuff.

Advanced Acrylic, I purchased from them. I went with PVC\Hybrid. Was it expensive yes, but it exactly what I wanted. It should be here in about 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting it setup.

Melev's Reef makes some of the nicest sumps I've seen. I've never had one myself, but they're a sponsor here, so I'm sure you can find folks that have used his...

Custom sumps are most efficient. Design to your needs and fit your setup best. That's why I am going to build my own sump next time.

It looks like our largest sump may be too small for your needs, but I'd be happy to address any questions if you had any!

I would build a custom sump. Best thing I ever done. Then you have it like you want it and you can maximize space.
