Best Tang for grazing?

Any of the tangs from the genus Ctenochaetus would be good. These tangs are known as bristle toothed tangs. Their mouths are designed for grazing on algae. I used to have a Kole tang in my old tank that would eat all kinds of nuisance algae.

so i was also called a NFK... i looked it up and it stands for newbie fish killer, weird i have never killed a fish....hmmm people are so rude

i think im going to go with a kole tang, also how big are scopas? and would a sail fin eat it as well?

our scopas tang are just in frag tanks with no live rock they will eat it off the egg crate

I also have one in a frag tank. Eats off the sand bed and keeps the frag rocks cleaned off. Like him a lot. Got him when he was about the size of a quarter....

so this is probably a stupid questin but is a yellow tang a scopas? this is the link i found for one is this a good buy?

Scopas are in the same family as Yellow, they are both Zebrasoma, but they are not the same fish.

Yes, that is a good price, but I think shipping is going to kill you....

I don't blame you for wanting more color, also in that family are Yellow and Purple, along with Gem, and the uber expensive Black tang.

Scopas are great tangs and you should be able to get them locally. They are much more attractive in person with some having small blue spots on them and a blue trim around the dorsal fin.

Deffinitely, why not throw in a sea hare as well, they always nock out about any algae problems I have. I just bounce mine back and forth between the display and the frag tank.
