I researched a lot to. I went with GlassCages. I like glass over acrylic (cleaner look for me). It’s heavy! And people will say at large sizes acrylic is better. But I love glass. Rimless at that size not recommended. Check out my build thread if you have a min. Link above near my user name.

Although that looks great, what did you do for delivery? It's going to cost me $600+ to get it to the airport then I guess I need to figure out what to do after that.

One big upside to something like the red sea 3xl 900 is that it's free shipping to my door. When I start adding a sump, stand, plumbing etc it starts creeping up to essentially the same price... but it's smaller than I want.

rent a truck,make a day trip ;)

Ya I will probably need a flat bed. Don't think my trucks bed will fit it all. But carrying that ***** is the other question.

When it's in the house.... How well do those suction cups work? I only see some up to like 265 lbs... I'm scared too much weight will be on one cup then there goes someone's foot and even worse.. the aquarium.

That was similar to my dilemma. I had GC freight delivery to my door. It was a little extra, but balanced out at the end of the day.

Yes, one of the plug and play systems (like redsea, waterbox, etc) offers free shipping; but like you mentioned, not the dimensions I was after.

I was unhappy with PNP because something wasn’t right. Dimensions of tank. Size of sump. Design of filtration. The only way to truly get what I wanted was to do it one part at a time.

Totally feel you though, a lot of places (custom tanks) offered “free shipping”, but when I did the math, it all balanced out pretty close.

Here’s a personal opinion, I didn’t want to give my money to someone who didn’t need it. Buying from GlassCages felt like I was buying from a local mom and pop shop. I was helping to put food on someone’s plate, helping keep a little guy employed. Buying from a major corp has some advantages, but I didn’t feel like they needed my money. I don’t think the CEO’s at Redsea know the names of each employee, down to the janitor.

Okay, maybe that does not matter much. But for me, it was a little extra that I considered. I was actually able to negotiate a little on price (given I was flexible on the end product). Lots of options and customization that beat buying from a warehouse.

Suction cups work better than you think! I was super paranoid too, but they work great. $75 each. Get 4 at least. Furniture dollys helped too. And half a dozen friends. Seriously at least 4 guys, 6 is best. But good you are thinking of all this. I did too!!

What about discoloring over time? If I get this monster tank there is no way I am upgrading larger than that in the future lol.
