Although that looks great, what did you do for delivery? It's going to cost me $600+ to get it to the airport then I guess I need to figure out what to do after that.
One big upside to something like the red sea 3xl 900 is that it's free shipping to my door. When I start adding a sump, stand, plumbing etc it starts creeping up to essentially the same price... but it's smaller than I want.
That was similar to my dilemma. I had GC freight delivery to my door. It was a little extra, but balanced out at the end of the day.
Yes, one of the plug and play systems (like redsea, waterbox, etc) offers free shipping; but like you mentioned, not the dimensions I was after.
I was unhappy with PNP because something wasn’t right. Dimensions of tank. Size of sump. Design of filtration. The only way to truly get what I wanted was to do it one part at a time.
Totally feel you though, a lot of places (custom tanks) offered “free shipping”, but when I did the math, it all balanced out pretty close.
Here’s a personal opinion, I didn’t want to give my money to someone who didn’t need it. Buying from GlassCages felt like I was buying from a local mom and pop shop. I was helping to put food on someone’s plate, helping keep a little guy employed. Buying from a major corp has some advantages, but I didn’t feel like they needed my money. I don’t think the CEO’s at Redsea know the names of each employee, down to the janitor.
Okay, maybe that does not matter much. But for me, it was a little extra that I considered. I was actually able to negotiate a little on price (given I was flexible on the end product). Lots of options and customization that beat buying from a warehouse.
