Best test kits for defective colour vision

Love the Hanna checkers. I have them in ALK(ppm and dkh), calcium, phosphate(low and ultra low). I recommend the ALK dkh and phosphate ULR. I have a test kit tool box loaded with Hanna checkers. I use the Red Sea Nitrate tester with the color wheel for easy color readings. With this setup I can bring my tool box and have Alk, Calcium, Phosphates, Nitrates, and Magnesium done in 15 min.

Nice idea on the plastic box. What is it and where’d you get it? I need to pick one up and get my stuff sorted.

Walmart. $10. Its the 19" one. Top has other compartments where I keep extra Culvettes, etc.

Guys,
Thanks for all your input.

This has been the best thread that I've road for a good while.

I'm sure you all have helped @Emarley and you should be proud.

I struggle with the same color issues. I use Hanna for ALK, calcium, phosphates. I wish it were possible to get do Magnesium and Nitrates also. The big issue that I found is performing the test correctly. The instructions aren’t always great but you’ll find videos that show it better. Once I started doing the test right by adding the samples and reagents in the right order, my results became much more consistent. For me consistency is better then total accuracy.
Good luck.

What has been your experience with the Hanna calcium checker? Seems to get pretty poor reviews.

What is the nature of your vision issue? If it’s specific colors, different test kits often use different reagents with different color changes, so it may well be that one works better than another.

It was inconsistent until I wanna watched a YouTube that explained that the reagent goes in first, distilled water works better than RODI and there is a right way and wrong way to pull the salt water sample.
Once the test was performed correctly, it works fine for my needs.

For me, it’s being able to distinguish between subtle changes in shade. The test strips or API tests, for instance are worthless to me. Trying to choose between 3 shades or pink or green is near impossible.
