Best type of sand?

I'm looking for good sand,should I do black sand? Anyone like or didn't like it? Is there a glowing kind of sand that pops with my lights?

I experimented with black sand in a small tank once and didn't like the look (just my preference). Pics of the same tank with white & black sand below:





I *love* the look of sugar sand, but if you have a critter that likes to dig or your pumps are too strong it will blow around everywhere. Just stay away from sugar fine. You'll have a mess in your tank, especially if you have any power heads.

I really like the look of black sand, helps make the colors pop, just my preference. Another advantage, black doesn't show all the algae and detritus as much as white can sometimes.
