Best use of sump light??

So my sump light is only on from 8 pm-8am every night when my DT lights are off. I’m wondering if it’s actually more beneficial for my sump light to stay on 24/7. I’ve just noticed I don’t have near as much algae for my snails in both sump and DT and wondering if that would help it grow to make sure they are well taken care of. Sump is a 30 gallon with a 48 W blue/white LED bar light.
