Hello yall what the best wave maker
Tank size 48x30x20 spa
Return pump is a RD3 80 watt
What’s everybody’s recommendation to add flow in the tank ???

My guess is there was supposed to be a 'wrong' in there ..... Cannot go wrong with the MP40.

I have 2 tunze stream 3 but are very bulky and since they suck from the bottom becomes a little hard to use Them when I was doing a bere bottom it was ok but now that I add it’s not working at least for me i’m thinking about the vortec or the gyre pump that does everyone think

Hello,

I have had amazing success with the Current USA 2100 gph eflux wave makers. They can be set up and controlled by Bluetooth, and remote. You can also link as many as you need to do the job. They are absolutely silent and they move a lot of water. I strongly believe they are underrated, since they move a lot of water in my 240. They are also quite a bit cheaper, and Currents customer service is totally amazing.

Boy that’s a tough question as there are so many to choose from. In my tank alone I have a Gyre150, a ecotec MP 40qd and 2 Jebao RW8’s ... All of them have a function and a position and I have no complaints with any of them. Even though I have read numerous complaints about the Gyres, I have never had a problem and I don’t keep up on my cleaning maintenance too well either....about once every 7-8 months. I did break the ceramic shaft on my last cleaning on the Gyre, but that was my fault. Lots of good wave makers available and lots of good feedback and opinions available as well. Take your pick.

I run the current eflux 1050s in my 32 nano, and I have them on 30%. They work great, move as much as I want, I can point them in any direction, and can be linked in wave mode. You control frequency and flow.

You can't convince me that paying $700 for 2 ecotech pumps is worth it.

I have a reefer 450...59” long, I run two Gyre 250’s, both in independent random flow mode, and get awesome flow in the tank. Mixed reef with SPS and top, and with that flow setup I can still have some torches and hammers happy in the lower middle part of the tank.

I run gyres 1x150, 1x250, advances controller on my 80 shallow 48x24x16 and couldn’t be happier. Run a rotating cycle so new flow every 2 hours. I bumped my top out up to 70% based on this scale.

hey! its been a few years since you've posted this comment. Do you still feel the same way about the pumps? have there been any changes on your opinion of them?

Im thinking of getting these as I plan on making my tank a torch only sort of thing and I would like to buy some more pumps to replace the ugly bulky ones I have.

I might move up to the MP40 later on but for now im looking for something cheap.
