Hello all,

I own a 5 gallon nano reef that measures 16 wide inches by 8 inches wide.

I have been having some Cyano Bacteria Issues at the front of the tank where the light is most prominent.

I am looking for the smallest wave maker pump that will fit comfortably within my tank.

I have been searching and all of them would be a little too big for my tank.
If you have any recommendations I would appreciate it.

Thank you !

I can’t help with the specific question but I can bump the thread to see if we can get you some attention

I like the aqamai kps, its the size of an egg, and its controllable, its a good little pump.

Aqamai kps is a circulation pump and has too high flow for 5 gal tank.

Nothing at my knowledge. How are your nitrates and phosphates?

I use a Nero 3 on a 10 gallon tank. I like the wide spread and controller. Gives a nice circulation of water in the tank.

I just put a Sicce Voyager 1000 in my 10g. I was also looking at the smaller IM Aquagadget Wavelink which is a DC pump, but went with the cheaper option instead

I used this one in my 12G nano. It's small, adjustable, quiet, and perfectly sized for small nanos.

Set your 5g nano on top of your washing machine and continuously run the spin cycle

According to Aqamai, the KPS is a wavemaker. It can definitely pulse well enough to produce variable flow.

I have one on my 13g EVO, on a high SPS flow setting, and it isn’t overly powerful. That said, I did remove another one from my softie EVO tank as it was blowing them around a bit. I don’t think you’ll find much smaller than that though.

More flow might not solve your cyano issue in any case.

AI Nero 3 is excellent on a tiny tank. I ran one on a 30cm cube (~8G) for quite some time. Of course, you have to run it on very low settings, but the feature set is useful.
