Best way to clean IM filter sock.

Hi Everyone,

I’ve looked several places and believe the best way to clean the IM AIO filter socks are these two methods:

1flip inside out and soak the sock in bleach & RO overnight. Rinse with RO
2) flip inside out and soak the sock in vinegar & RO overnight. Rinse with RO

- I don’t want to put these in my washer.
- Bleach seems pretty harsh and not sure if it’s safe if I accidentally leave bleach residue.

Does anyone see an issue with these methods? Would bleach or vinegar be better?

The method that works best for me is to rinse the sock, shake most of the water out of it, then pour some hydrogen peroxide over it. You don’t need to soak it, just cover most of the sock and let it sit for a few hours or a day. I always cover it so it doesn’t dry out. Then I fill a container with some warm water, rinse and let dry. It’s pretty easy, especially if you do a few at the same time.

I Flip them inside out and put them on a post and use a pressure washer. Cleans better and faster than any other way. Just soaking in bleach isn’t really cleaning them. It’s just bleaching it white. Pleasure washing them actually cleans them imo

I always did turn inside out and rinse. Them in washer with bleach and dry.

Flip them inside out and put them on a post of some sort and use a pressure washer. Cleans them better than anything with only water...and fast.

My water at my house is very hard and don’t want to contaminate my tank. Maybe I can spray it then soak it in RO.

I haven’t heard anyone suggest hydrogen peroxide. That might be best. I use it all the time to nuke things.

I clean mine like @Cabinetman does. But my latest filter socks were those heat sealed ones. Those seams and material is so stiff they are impossible to turn inside out. Anyone use the heat sealed socks? And know a good way to clean them 4"X15"

I turn them inside out. Throw them in the washer on brite white mode(hot water). Use Clorox bleach in this wash mode.
Once complete re-rinse in hot water again then hang dry. I wash 9 socks at a time so i wash socks twice a month give or take.

Throw them in the dryer for a few minutes. See if that softens them up enough to turn inside out.
