My powerhead is getting quite dirty (also has bubble algae) , what’s the best way to clean it.

I soak mine in citric acid. Then a little scrub and powerwash. Good to go.

I prefer to fully disassemble my powerheads to clean them. Depends on the powerhead, but it takes me about 2-3 min to fully disassemble, clean and reassemble my jebaos.

Vinegar, while effective, has a side effect than can be costly. Vinegar can eat at the glue holding the impeller causing the powerhead to fail.
Citric acid is just as effective without the negative side effects

I think I’ll clean mine today with vinegar since I have some already. But I have a warranty for powerhead, so if it did fail from wash, I wonder if it would still be covered?

The manufacturers know of the issues with vinegar too. Why they suggest citric acid.
Vinegar works, just don't get all crazy with your water to vinegar ratio. Something like 10:1 will take longer, but have much less effect on the glued parts.
I honestly believe that many of the people with rusty MP40's had previously cleaned their gear with vinegar.

Cleaned it with vinegar. And wow! It must have been due for a cleaning, now it’s working very well. Fish now just have to get used to alittle more flow

Vinegar also will warp plastic/rubber stuff. I use it anyway but if you leave it overnight, it will definitely screen o-rings and washers up.

Yeah I just left in for 20mins (accidentally put alittle more than needed vinegar) and it worked well
