I have a 55 gallon tank that I plan on using as a sump for my system. It was used to house a large reptile for a few months, and then sprayed out and put in storage. How can I clean it to be sure that it woulnt hurt my system.

Vinegar/Water is great to use! Let it soak and then clean it and you should be good to go!

how much vinegar to water? Arnt there different kinds of vinegar also?

Isnt there red vinegar and white vinegar? which should be used? Just throw some of the vinegar into a container and fill it up with water, then use a washrag to whipe the aquarium down with it?

I have used distilled white vinegar. I have also used bleach. If you use bleach be sure to use a dechlor, like Prime, and let it air out for a day or two just to be safe.
