Best way to incorporate a second sump?

Good morning,
I am wanting to add a second small sump tank to my existing setup so I can incorporate more filtration gadgets to my tank. I have a nano and the sump it too tight to have it all as is.

The second sump will be in a little display cabinet at the side of my other tank which will hold some other external equipment as well.

What are my options for adding on the new sump? I'm hoping not to tear apart all of my plumbing if at all possible, but don't think a series of pumps to and from the new sump is very flood safe. Hopefully you all can help me come up with a smart solution, or tell me I need to tear apart my established plumbing

I would make a custom cabinet so the second sump sits higher than the first. Have the tank overflow into the newer sump you are installing, and have that overflow into the old sump. That way the only lines you have to change are the drain lines

What about drilling the new one so it drains into the current one and having a pump from the new to the old sump as well?

This is what I was imagining! I think I could do this without too much of a fuss, luckily. The way my drains and returns are built in are a little tricky, but I think I can make it work

Its not a massive undertaking, main thing is finding a good spot for the sump. I recommend using some tubing thats pretty insulated

Yeah, I have a flexible tubing right now that I think I can just move to the new sump. It'll just be a matter of getting everything at the right level to line up with each other.
