Everytime I send in an ICP test, it comes back with very low iodine. I have a salifert test that confirms it, but it's kind of hard to read.

What's the best way to raise it? I use the Fluval iodine because it has iodate and iodide, but honestly I don't do it religiously enough.

It may or may not be useful to maintain it, but if you choose to try it, it does deplete very fast as algae take it up quite substantially.

I recommend an iodide product since it is the more bioavailable form. You may need to add it twice a week or more.

So should I just use something like the Seachem iodide? Is the Fluval iodate not helping anything?

I do have a bit of an algae issue. Is it possible that is where my iodine is going? If I dose iodine, will it make the algae worse?

The iodate isn't wasted, but it may accumulate if the tank bacteria do not convert it to iodide as fast as you are dosing it. I'd use pure iodide forms.

There are many brands or DIY.

I'm having the same issue. For all 3 of my tanks, my ICP tests come back with zero Iodine almost every time. I'm using Triton 4-part in one tank and ATI Essentials Pro on the other two. Both claim to have complete trace elements. My question is, "is it known that we need to keep Iodine up for corals"? If so, would you recommend dosing it directly with its own pump? Thanks in advance!

I keep my iodine levels relativly
stable as its one of the ingredients in the trace product I use. I dose it daily and whenever I test for it, which is not very often using salifert, it is usualy between 0 and .06. Its hard to tell on the lower end but it usually registers above 0.
Now that im running a macro algae fuge I will have to test it again. I have quite a bit of red macro so it may not register.
Not sure how much good it does for my acros though but I have ran it since day one on both systems.
