Best way to rid nuisance palys

What is the best way to rid my rockwork of nuiscance palys that are over taking my tank. Some of the rocks are small/medium sized so them can easily be removed. Couple other ones are fairly large. Any and all ideas/suggestions are welcome.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SIII using tapatalk 2

I have soaked a few rocks in a bucket of hot water for about 20 minutes to kill majano anemones.

I usually just use bone cutters and break off a thin layer of rock with the palys I want to remove. Other times, I put epoxy over them for a week or 2 and remove it later when they have melted under it.

Whatever you do, please keep palytoxin poisoning in mind and be safe. I have pulled them off with tweezers but even the tiniest bit of tissue will regrow a new polyp. If you want to trade one pest for another the discosoma mushrooms in my tank are pretty effective at irritating them to the point of melting down.

its not worth the toxins these guys punch outside as well as inside the tank. ditch all the rocks with them on them be sure to tie them into bags or trashbags and disposed of properly. especially if you have kids or other pets such as dogs!!!

or you could take the rocks out and bleach em. That will kill em..

Keep the containers your bleaching em in outside and out of reach of animals and kids etc.

OR you can just let the rocks dry out in the sun
OR put em in a clothes dryer.. but prolly not a good idea.

IF you cant remove the whole rock just remove the chunks of rock with bone cutters until you have removed the things you want gone.

take it and trade it at the local LFS is another idea.

Agree with the above posts about palytoxin. Can't be too careful.

I've had a few paly rocks get out of hand. I usually sell/trade them locally and replace with new rocks.

I'm gonna blow you all away I've been pealing them off my rocks for 3yrs now. Gently of course and 5-10 at a time. Never had an issue Using a long pair of tweezers, I grab em near the base and just peal em off.

Acan echinata, more specific orange crush. Mine has eaten many palys, zoas, mushrooms, a few Favia, some montiporas that were getting out of line, and a clam.
