Hello,
I'm not new to shipping corals but I usually ship softies and zoa's.
I have to ship a dendro colony that's about 1 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches long. It's on a frag plug so another inch long for the stem.
I usually ship corals bagged and then I put them in the ziploc containers with the screw on lids.
I'm debating if I should break the stem off the frag plug so it's smaller and put some plastic pieces in the bag for cushion and ship it in the ziploc container as I usually do.
OR
Try floating it on styrofoam but I'm afraid it might be too heavy or if the bag would leak for some reason it might not be able to turn around in the container and possibly be out of water.
OR
I read about the specimen containers but it scares me not having it bagged and what if it would leak?
I'm thinking I should prolly try the first method as thats how Ive shipped before with good luck but I am afraid of possible breakage.
My original frag was shipped to me just bagged with strips of plastic and was fine but I'm a worry wart lol.
Also it's going from Wisc about 50 degrees to Florida 70-80. Should I use a heat pack? I always worry about heat packs warming up to much in the beginning but think I will use one.
Thanks
kass
