Hello Reefing Peeps! Just got a simple question, well not so simple for me lol. But what is the best all yellow fish for a mixed reef tank? I just set up a 40g breeder and my favorite color is yellow so I want an ALL YELLOW fish in my new tank. I have a few in mind, but figured I would get an opinion from the reefing world experts! Thanks in advance!

Clown goby comes to mind. Other fish include golden damselfish, yellow assessors, or yellow sailfin mollies. Also lemonpeel angles but I think those get too big and aren't 100% reef safe.

  • yellow wrasse
  • yellow watchman goby
  • yellow clown goby
  • lemon peel angel
  • yellow dottyback
I think that's already at full stock for a 40 breeder.

Clarkii clowns range from bright orange to yellow if you're interested in fish that aren't full yellow, but that doesn't seem to be the case. They do sell full yellow clowns, if you're willing to give up an arm and a leg...

Canary blenny (you can also get them captive bred)

Funny how yellow tang no longer makes the list...tank size? :)

A yellow tang can live there for a couple years before needed to moved to a bigger tank. But given the current irrational price of them, it's just hard to recommend them regardless tank size nowadays.

It's indeed the new premium that had me post above. It's Crazy!
