Betadine dip for bacterial infection?

I bought a desjardini sailfin and a convict tang yesterday. Freshwater dipped them and added them to my tank (I should have a qt but I don’t). Sailfin putting on some weight, acting and looking fine. The fat convict however, didn’t accept any of the foods I offered, is breathing heavily and is close the surface. After trying to get a closer look ( they both are shy ) i noticed the convict has some red on its mouth and apparently has cotton mouth. Sadly, I don’t have any helpful meds on hand to deal with this. I do however have betadine.
So, can a betadine dip help? Is it even safe to perform? If so what dosage should I go for and for how long should it be?

Definitely sounds bacterial.

Need to QT the convict and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Betadine is really just an iodine solution that some use to treat wounds and others use to dip corals. So basically it's an antiseptic; whereas you need an antibiotic like Kanaplex, Furan2, Sulfaplex, Neoplex, NFG to treat in a QT what sounds like a bacterial condition. Another option would be Ruby Reef Rally which has both antiseptic and antibiotic qualities that can be treated by a 90 minute bath. Can you post some pictures of the fish?

Typically the meds I see my few lfs have for sale are ich related and 90% of the time it’s just a garlic based food additive. Let’s hope for the best I guess...

Fresh water fish antibiotics will work, dosent have to be for saltwater.

A good question would be can one, with limited availability of meds in this case use a human antibiotic if dosed in the correct amount?

Could you order meds online and have them delivered to you?

I don’t think it’s visible in this image but there seems to be something in the fish’s mouth...
Btw I did forget to mention that I actually placed the new fish in my refugium for easier care and observation.

I was actually thinking about asking a friend who has been in the saltwater hobby for over 20 years that particular question (he also lives in Lebanon)
I haven’t found anything useful for sale online that I can get my hands on...
However I didn’t know that freshwater antibiotics were helpful in this case.

Kanaplex, Furan2, Sulfaplex, Neoplex and their derivatives share similar antibiotics.

Look for broad spectrum antibiotic that treats gram negative and gram positive infection in freshwater fish.

Maracyn and Maracyn 2 are commonly used in freshwater applications but can be also used in saltwater. Are those available in your area?

Can you get a hold of Erythromycin? It works very well on a broad spectrum of bacterial infections, mouth fungus, etc. The dosage is 200 mg per 10 gallons of water.

Yes I can. I do have one more question though: I have some bioballs in my overflow box, they are however, immersed and not submerged. So can use some of them as cycled media for the emergency qt that I am willing to setup( big plastic tub)?
