So my 75gal fish only tank is running with a biomaster thermo 600 canister filter. Eventually I'm going to build a sump setup but for now I'm running this as it was all a package deal when I bought the setup for 60 bucks. That being said, what would be a better setup to run in the canister? Right now it's running the media that came with it. After the filter it's run into a chaeto chamber and then pumped back into the tank. Chaeto is growing great and just harvest this past weekend. Right now there's 3 fish in the tank and will be adding some cuc this week. Attached is the setup that is running in the canister.

HOBs absolutely! So yes, I do agree with others.

With that said however, a canister filter is not the end of the world. I personally would rather not use one at all and just have everything in-tank, but that's just me.

If you do want to run the canister filter, I see no issues with the way it is structured. I would add pre-filter mechanical filter media though, just to reduce the need for cleaning.

Thanks everyone. Yea eventually down the road I am going to convert to a HOB sump setup. But since the canister was brand new and this is my first tank I decided to run it. Honestly it's not too bad with cleaning and taking apart. It is well constructed and made simple to disconnect the hoses for cleaning and priming it. Also like the fact it has a built in heater. My main concern was if the filters in it are adequate or is there better things to run inside of it. I do have a hob ATO with skimmer.

Once I figure out my drain and how want my sump configured....instead of sock filter I plan on using this. I dont see why you couldnt use this in your canister
