I have a 72 gal bowed front Saltwater Reef tank with mainly Soft corals-I have a fluvalsmart lite 2.0 X 2 yrs which I really like- but my corals continue to look washed out unless I only have my blues on @100%. I see some of you s suggest running 2 of the fluval lites for better lighting . To get the length that I need- my options are 46 watts or 54 watts- would the 54 watts give me more color with my corals I- think my tank looks OK until I look at the vibrant colors of yours... thank you all in advance

If I understand correctly, you want to have the look of only blues but don't want to sacrifice the intensity?

Most of the tanks you see that look vibrant are because of the lighting being heavy on blues so I would run them where you get the look you want as long as its enough par for the corals. I have a lot of sps frags, leathers, large monti caps, bubble tip nems, and large fleshy lps colonies. With the exception of the lps colonies and nems everything is brown if I turn the blue channels way down or off. If your tank looks good with blues at 100% run them. If you buy different lights with more output you may be able to run them at a lower percentage but its still going to take the same amount of blue to achieve that look that blues give.

Oh and welcome to R2R!

I'll throw in that, I don't recommend running at tank heavy blue during the whole photo period. I say this because it ignores that fish eyes are often capable of seeing a vibrant world and navigate/communicate via colors. I feel tanks the blue only tanks deprive the fish of stimuli that their bodies had evolved to live in and around. For me the last hour or two of each day is blue without the white channel because I like to cue what time of day it is for the fish since my lights can't ramp up and down.
