Beware Marine Depot with PayPal

I recently ordered an RO filter, Aiptasia X and an EB-8 power strip for my Apex from Marine Depot on the website. The website said the EB-8 was out of stock with a 2-3 day wait. I am a loyal customer to vendors or people who are honest and do what they promise to do. With this I chose to purchase from Marine Depot and wait the few days as opposed to going to another vendor with my business. The website clearly stated that I would NOT be charged for any merchandise until it was shipped. I made the order on Monday, this Tuesday I checked the website and it said the Aiptasia X and RO filter had shipped. I also received an email on Monday saying the EB-8 was unable to be shipped with the other items. I knew this and did not think much more of it. I did not receive any other corrospondence from Marine Depot. today I notice that the website says 4-6 WEEKS wait time. I also looked at my bank statement and realized they deducted the ENTIRE ammount of the order even though it was not available for shipment. This is clearly not what they stated up front. I then thought maybe it will be drop shipped from the manufacturer, and that is the reason. Even so a little communication would have been expected. I called customer service and was informed that since I paid with PayPal, they could not charge just the items that shipped but they are hopeful to receive an order in 2-3 weeks. When questioning why I wasn't informed of this earlier, the service rep stated he knows the website does not clarify this and will get with the IT people. This would have been nice to know ahead of time. So now I have to order from another vendor which basically means I have taken another $150 dollars out of my checking account, while I wait for a refund from Marine Depot for something they stated they would not deduct. In addition to this the previous order I placed was also less than perfect. During the process the website unexpectedly closed. The order did not show up in my account and did not show up with Marine Depot as having been placed. So I went through the ordering process again. The next day I have two charges to my paypal account for the exact ammount from Marine Depot. I did receive a refund back to my paypal account 3-4 days later. Take all this for what you will, I really hate this happened as Marine Depot has fair prices and a large assortment of items. However they have dropped the ball in such a way that I will pay the small difference in pricing, and make my purchases from another vendor from this day forward, just to have peace of mind that what the company states they will do is what they actually do.
