So a year and a half ago I started getting into clams pretty hard, had a great SPS dominated system brewing and then after adding a blue squamosa my clams died one by one, then my SPS, then my zoas kept getting moved around. After a year I figure it was the bobbit worm, but it was all academic. The last two month is was losing 4 colonies in a night, gorgs, mushrooms, lps, and even my helfrichi firefish. Today I took out the softballish sized rock at the base of my island and this is what I got.

For scale Im 6'4" and a 52L jacket size. Dead the thing was over 2 feet and 3/4" thick. I think it could easily stretch 4-5 feet long.

Man, that thing is huge and glad you were able to get him out. Where at in MT are you, I was born and raised in Anaconda?

I pulled one of those out of my tank on my last move. Eunicids look like they are straight out of alien. Glad there is one less. Mine was only about a foot and it was gnarled....can't imagine one that big.

eww...that thing is huge......i found a red worm the other night...its about a foot....need to figure out how to get it out....i know what rock its in...can i just take the rock out..have a couple mushrooms on top tho

Thanks guys. Yeah it was still alive in the pic and a little stingy but that stuff doesn't bother me, not with all that adrenalin coursing through my system. I seriously thought he was just going to be a foot long. I love Mandarins, Laser Lemons, Rastas, Hornets, and many colonies of other more common zoas. Ticks me off.

Yeah Skins we will be getting some clams as soon as we know there isn't another one in there. I need to set up a 40b coral/clam QT somewhere too. Remeber a year ago when we were tying to figure out what was getting my clams? can't believe it got so big.

OMG! I turn very girly girly if I saw one of these and would need a knight in shining armor to get that outta my tank....

I think it came inside a maricultured blue squamosa clam in April of 2012. It started killing zoas colonies in March this year but I thought it was my Lavender Tang moving stuff around. Now I know better. Honestly it might have got my lavender tang too.

EW! Wow, how does that even HAPPEN? I am so sorry for the loss of your corals but I think it would have started eating you and your family shortly... man thats disgusting. How can you possibly hold that? LOL
