Beyond water - Zoa growth on different medium and/or position

Beyond water, has anyone done experiments on the best medium to grow zoas on?

Things I'm thinking about:

Material - smooth or rough - plastic, ceramic, or other frag plugs

Frag plug position: frag plugs sitting flat or sitting at some kind of an angle


Anything else that anyone has seen to get them to spread faster?

My guess is rubble for the less mat like zoas and a flat surface for the mat like ones.

Interesting thought. Do we know or have a list of which ones are less mat like vs mat like zoas?

What about angling the frag plugs on like a 45 degree angle? Would they grow toward or away from the light based on what they are "looking for" or do they care?

doesn't matter.
I have zoas growing in every direction.
I have a colony of king midas surrounding and growing up a worm casing. the worm keeps growing the shell and they keep climbing.
