My LFS has said they will keep one for me until next week
However when I read up on them last night. A page suggested they were not a great tank addition and instead go with a normal cleaner wrasse.
Said they are very persistent and can stress tank mates.
Just wondered what peoples thoughts were. I kept my last normal one for 7 years and fancied a change with the bi colour
Thanks :)

I recently got a bicolor blenny but soon after putting him in my DT I noticed some of my sps and lps corals not looking so hot. Then one day I say him nipping at them so he had to go. Loved the look and personality but not the eating coral habit.

Hmmmm, never seen any mention of coral issues on any of the info pages

Those fish are a gamble when it comes to them picking at coral. Ive had one for years with zero issues. Very peaceful with other fish and never picked at any corals. Bought a second one, after my first one jumped out of the tank, and from the moment I put him in the tank he was a coral nipping machine, especially towards the sps. I had to almost tear down the tank to get him out. I wouldnt take the risk with these fish again. I agree to just look into a reef safe wrasse.

The vast majority are reef safe, but there are some outliers that will nip. It is more often directed at sps and clams when they do.

Cleaner wrasses aren't for everyone. Having a few large fish helps disperse their annoying habits, but quite a few also never accept food.

Thanks for the replies everyone
I have reserved him now and I'll have a go, I have a good fish trap so if he misbehaves I will remove him.
I will report back :)

I love my bi color blenny such personality and makes me laugh everytime I see him pop his head out of a hole give it a try I think u will enjoy him

Identical situation here. So far it only seems to be nipping at one colony of green Monti but it's very frustrating. It's bleaching it out

I have a bi-colored blenny, and I've lost a few frags. I've seen him nipping at the corals. New to the hobby, so still learning. My theory is that they are omnivorous and so without the proper diet, they might be getting desperate. I switched to a heavier plant based blend.

my bi color eventually stopped nipping after I added a few more tangs and began to feed more often. Unfortunately, it vanished. One day, I noticed it was no longer there. I have no idea what happened. :(
