Hi everyone just went to my LFS and grabbed my fish order. They accidentally ordered a bicolor blenny and just gave it to me and it’s now in my QT tank. After doing more research I’ve learned that they can potentially nip at SPS. My DT tank has a lot of nice acros in it and didn’t want to risk putting him in there unless other people have had success keeping them with SPS. Or should I put him in the frag tank with a small 6 line wrasse. Only thing I keep in the frag tank are shrooms and zoas.

If you are at all worried, place him in the frag tank. Frag some acros and put them in there with him. If he leaves them alone you are likely safe to place him in your DT. Remember, though, any fish can change their mind....

Mine has been a model citizen. Never knew they could harm sps.

Yeah I’ve seen a few threads of them doing it but most seem to be model citizens. Probably depends on how much algae they have to graze. I will probably throw him in my frag tank with some acros frags just to be sure though. And what should I try to feed him for algae in the qt tank? Just some spiralina brine and sea weed? Any specific pellets I should buy?

All my blennies including the bi color love to eat nori. It’s pretty funny at feeding time when all my big tangs are taking turns and the blennies slide in for a bite like they own the place.

Not saying it’s particularly the best pellet but mine eat the small sized ocean nutrition formula 1&2 mixed together. Works good in an auto feeder because it’s dry and all my fish eat it, but tends to float in that setup so feeding ring is required.

Never knew they even liked SPS, I'd say it would be just fine

I have one and would like to catch it. I have caught it almost daily nipping at sps polyps.

Yeah so a little update. He wasn’t sps safe going back to the LFS tomorrow

Depends on the individual fish. The one I have now loves to nip at my Monti cap. Fortunately, the coral is pretty big so the damage is limited. My previous Bicolor never looked twice at coral.

Mine has been fine and I have 3 Monti caps, digitata, birds nests, he has never touched them. He does like to bite me.

There is a slight risk with all blennies in the Escenius genus.

Many people keep them in reefs though.

Yeah I put him in the frag tank with some frags and he didn’t touch him so I moved him to the display. Did fine for two weeks then one day I came home and there were bites out of all my playing and encrusting monti and he completely ate a milli.
