Hey guys,
First post here (completely new to reefing) but I have a dottyback with heck of a lot of personality, I love him. BUT, he is seriously pestering my torch coral.. He has bitten off two of my torch tentacles (I see the circle tip of it on my sandbed). He has also bitten my hammer coral once, causing it to retract for a while. Do I try feeding more? Should I just ask for a credit at my LFS?

Have you thought about pairing it with another bicolour dottyback? Dottybacks are gregarious and tend to do best in pairs (or harems). That being said, you may end up with two problem dottybacks instead of one, and no torch at all.

You could also send it back and get a pair of captive-bred fridmani (orchid) or springeri (springer's) dottyback instead. The orchid dottyback is simply the most gorgeous aquarium fish in its size category and well-worth considering. While people have reported sporadic problems with their fish (usually lone specimens), I've never had any aggression problems with mine.
